Founded in 2016 in Brussels by the Belgian Marie Soufflet, the ready to wear label Ireene focuses on a modern, but also authentic vision of fashion. Convinced that clothes should not be based on the idea of trends and standardised sizing, Marie Soufflet was very much inspired by her first career as an interior designer and by the approach of the Japanese fashion in the eighties, and produces most of her creations herself, using the best Italian fabrics, pure wool, neoprene and cashmere. This year, Marie Soufflet will open an atelier showroom in the heart of Brussels in the Dansaert district. Now sold in two boutiques in Brussels and another one in Paris, she also intends to develop her network of distributors. This season, the brand remains close to its roots proposing minimalist pieces in very limited editions or unique pieces for some models, modern cuts carefully crafted by hand, visible details showing the process of production, plain fabrics and a deliberately short colour palette around blue accent colors as violet, but also delicate pink, greys, blackÉ For Fall Winter 17 18, Marie Soufflet, whose second name is Ireene, has also introduced a masculine line, the perfect complement to her feminine propositions. Not subject to trends or buzz effects, all the Ireene pieces are elaborated to allow each customer to create a no nonsense wardrobe, which she or he will wear for years. With a great sensitivity for the material, Ireene evokes the garment like a modernist painting, superposition, transparency, geometry. It is a composition of flat, plans that, once worn, turns into a light and sparse volume, supported by the minimalist cut. The simplicity of the construction process is visible, and refers back to birth as long as the end recalls the cycle of things. The delicate, lively matter, and the rigor of creation create a harmony in which to slip, every day.
